§ 12 · Tech Events

No vibe, no event.

The vibe is everything. People arrive excited, often new to the city. The whole event must make them think "cool" the moment they walk in.
Make the welcome impossible to miss. A giant "Welcome" right at the entrance, so nobody wonders where they are.
Even the waiting should feel like a party: music, good mood, and good weather if you are lucky.
No paper tickets, ever. Tickets live in the phone wallet. Let people accredit the day before so day one does not choke, with a fast lane for everyone already accredited.
Water everywhere, with free refill stations. Enough food stands, and not wildly overpriced.
Something happening in every corner, with small gigs in between to lift the energy.
Plenty of places to sit and recover. Six hours of standing in bad air is not a program.
Use the outside: lounges, bean bags, shade, a happy hour with a free beer.
Let people reset: places to wash and cool off, cold towels, even a massage.
Be ready for any weather: branded fans when it is hot, umbrellas or rain ponchos when it rains, heat packs when it is cold, so nobody gets driven indoors.
Turn the weather gear into sponsorship. Branded by a partner, paid for by a partner.
From late afternoon, booth parties with drinks and food, so nobody leaves wrecked and starving. Close with a real party or strong side events.
Startup booths are consistent: not just a logo, but the name, what they do, and what they are looking for, so anyone walking by instantly knows whether to stop.
If you demo at a booth, it runs in 90 seconds. Nobody waits for the login.
